‘Flying saucer’ makes first flight in England

Geoff Hatton demonstrates a prototype of the flying saucer.

Peterborough, England-based GFS Projects company has laid claim to creating the world’s first flying saucer.

The craft, which measures 60cm across, made its historic flight at a Gorillas of Tomorrow technology event at Churchill College, Cambridge.  The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) could be used by the military, for mountain rescue teams or farmers, according to its inventor.

GFS official Geoff Hatton said: “We’re probably still a couple of years away from a commercial product, but we’ve made astonishing progress already.”
