Burj Dubai will be able to increase height after completion

Dubai’s 2950-ft. Burj Dubai will be the tallest building in the world when completed in 2009, and it looks as if the tower’s architects have devised an ingenous way to keep that title for the decades to come.

The top of the tower will reportedly be a steel-frame structure that can be expanded upward to defeat any upcoming challenges. The final height could be as much as 3084 ft., or more than half a mile.

Taiwan’s 1671-ft. Taipei 101 currently is the tallest building in the world.
