Spaceport votes too close to call

Dona Ana County, New Mexico voters are divided on their support for a proposed tax that would help fund a commercial spaceport that could one day turn the remote area of southern New Mexico into a hub for space tourism.

Unofficial results of Tuesday”s election show those in favor of the tax increase outnumbered opponents of the measure by a mere 204 votes. But election workers still have to count another 541 provisional ballots.

The provisional ballots will be counted Thursday when the election results are canvassed.
