Drones to fly over U.S.-Canada border

MQ-9 Predator B unmanned aerial drone.
Predator drones will work over the United States-Canada border for the first time this fall.

The unmanned, unarmed aircraft are equipped with cameras that enable them to be used for observation, surveillance and detection activities. They will support law enforcement and critical incident response.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection intended to resume flights along the U.S.-Mexico border for its Predator B unmanned aerial vehicle in November, the first since the April 24, 2006, crash of the first Predator.
