Can we live longer?

Los Angeles Times takes a comprehensive look at recent studies showing real potential to extend human life spans.  It’s all here, folks.  Resveratrol, telemeres, Sir2, calorie restriction:

Tantalizingly, scientists have discovered that they can extend life span in animals by restricting how much they eat: In rats and mice, a 30% reduction in caloric intake extends life span by a third.

And they’ve found that tinkering with certain genes allows rodents and other animals to also live longer.

No one can be sure what effect these procedures would have on humans, but the findings are indeed tantalizing.
