U.S. Navy fine-tunes unmanned helicopter

Northrop Grumman and the U.S. Navy have successfully completed the first series of flights of the enhanced, more capable version of the Fire Scout vertical takeoff and landing tactical unmanned air vehicle.

The Navy plans to use Fire Scout on board the Littoral Combat Ship. Its duties will include real-time video imagery, intelligence gathering, communications-relay capability, precision targeting and battle damage assessment.
